Israel kills six people in an incursion and attacks in southern Syria

At least six Syrian citizens have lost their lives this Tuesday in air attacks and artillery of the Israeli army, whose tanks have penetrated the town of Kuya, west of the city of Daraa, in southern Syria.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has condemned in a statement the “intense attacks of Israeli gadge and aerial airings directed against residential areas and cultivation fields” that caused the death of six civilians and has warned that the number of fatalities could increase because some of the injured are in serious conditions.

The governor of the province of Daraa, Anuar Taha Alzaaby, has denounced Israeli violations and explained that a group of citizens faced “the military forces that tried to penetrate Kuya.” After that clash, the army launched artillery attacks and drones, according to the statements of Alzaaby collected by the Syrian news agency.

For their part, the Israel defense forces have indicated in a brief statement that “several terrorists opened fire against the troops in southern Syria” and that the troops responded to the fire, and aviation attacked them.

The Israeli forces are present in southern Syria, on the other side of their northeastern border, from the fall of the Bashar al Asad regime, last December. Israel took advantage of the power vacuum in Damascus to occupy the separation zone with Syria, established by the UN in 1974 after the occupation of the Golán Syrians and that should remain demilitarized.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry has asked Syrias to “cling to their lands and reject any displacement attempt or the imposition of a new reality by force.”
