The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, directed that the use of bullets and shooting at demonstrators by any security, military, or armed party is absolutely prohibited,” noting that he “stressed the commitment of ministries, agencies, and security services.” and the military to operate in accordance with the contexts, powers and controls granted to it.”
Al-Kazemi stressed, according to the statement, that “our security forces are responsible for protecting the demonstrators, and that any violation of the security instructions in this regard will be subject to legal accountability,” directing “to open an urgent investigation into the events in the Green Zone, the sources of fire, and identify the negligent and hold them accountable according to the law.”
He called on citizens to “abide by the security instructions and the curfew decision.”
Commenting on the events, Iraqi President Barham Salih stressed that Iraqi blood is a red line.
Saleh said in a tweet to him on “Twitter”, “You are firm in the dignity of the ramp, and the crudeness of strife when it was obedient to its two years, the appearance of its ambush, the emanate of its pole, and the orbit of its honest, it begins in the hidden and disturbed, and the righteousness of it, and the righteousness of the youth, and the righteousness of the youth, Ali, peace be upon him,” noting that “Iraqi blood is a red line.”
The Iraqi government also announced the suspension of official working hours on Tuesday in all governorates.
