IPN and SRE will sign agreements to promote scientific and technological projects

Mexico City.- The National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs (SRE) announced that shortly they will sign a agreement with the most important research institution in India and with the Korean Aerospace Agency, pTo promote scientific and technological projects on the whole.

At the inauguration of the First International Forum 2022 of the IPN: “Connecting Education, Science and Technology”, the general director of the Polytechnic, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, accompanied by the general director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), Javier Dávila Torres and the director of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, Luis Gutiérrez Reyes, thanked the support provided by Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon to strengthen the internationalization of the institution, leader in science and technology in the country.

Reyes Sandoval highlighted the importance of internationalization to enhance the knowledge and skills of the Polytechnic, increase its presence and reputation abroad and prepare new generations to innovate and promote changes and solutions to global problems.

This forum will allow generating opportunities, alliances and institutional, national and international support, so that researchers, academics and polytechnic students can cross the borders of knowledge, always with the support of their alma mater, he assured.

In giving the first keynote speech of the forum, in which he shared his experiences as a scientist at universities in the United States and the United Kingdom, Reyes Sandoval recognized that there is a lot of talent and innovation in Mexico, but it is necessary to promote them with international collaboration.

“The great scientific developments, such as vaccines, originate in Higher Education Institutions and research centers, rather than in pharmaceutical companies,” he said.

He mentioned the efforts made by the IPN to position itself before the world, such as the installation of the Internationalization Committee and the consolidation of alliances with Queen Mary University of London, the University of California and the Royal Institute of Technology of the Kingdom of Sweden, in addition to the participation of the Polytechnic in the Mexican pavilion, in the 2022 edition of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization International Convention.

He stated that on a visit to Turkey and Belgium he signed a memorandum of understanding with Istinye University, to strengthen collaboration in medical and health sciences, where he was nominated as a board member of the Eurasia Region University Council (EURAS).

For his part, the general director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), Javier Dávila Torres, praised the relationship that has been consolidated between the IPN and the Mexican Foreign Ministry. He assured that internationalization is one of the objectives that are working properly at the Polytechnic.

He announced that -derived from the visit that took place in recent days to India- an IPN memorandum of understanding is about to be signed with the most important research institution in India and another one, with the Korean Aerospace Agency.

The Head of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, Luis Gutiérrez Reyes, highlighted the participation of the IPN in the Consortium of Higher Education Institutions for the Educational Development of Mexicans Abroad, which installed the SRE and seeks to promote an offer of higher education, which will include postgraduate scholarships and promote links with scientists from the Mexican diaspora and carry out research with a transnational impact.

He said that the IPN becomes essential for its higher level and postgraduate educational offer, as well as for research that has yielded positive results for society, always accompanied by the responsibility, quality and ethics of both its academic staff and its students and graduates.
