Apple unveiled its newest line of smartphones, the iPhone 16, on Monday, September 9, during its “It’s Glowtime” event. Despite innovations in design, camera and artificial intelligence, the new devices brought news that may displease some consumers: the price of the iPhone 16 could be up to 15% more expensive than its predecessor, the iPhone 15.
Price increase
The increase in the prices of new iPhones in Brazil largely reflects the depreciation of the real against the dollar. With the US currency rising, the costs of importing components and producing devices increase, directly impacting the final price for Brazilian consumers. In addition to exchange rate fluctuations, other factors also influence the final price of the iPhone 16 in Brazil, such as import taxes, logistics costs and store profit margins.
