The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to immediately allow more essential food goods to enter the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday, the highest UN court in The Hague ordered the necessity of opening more crossing points to transport food and medical aid.
At the end of January, the court had already ordered emergency measures, ordering Israel to do everything in its power to prevent “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.
The resolution stated, “Since the resolution issued on January 26, the catastrophic living conditions of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have continued to deteriorate.” The judges made particular reference to hunger, saying that “there is now no longer merely the danger of famine, but famine has already begun.”
They added, “Israel must work closely with the United Nations to deliver aid.”
The judges also listed water, electricity, clothing and tents among the urgently needed relief supplies.
The court also alerted Israel to the need to ensure that its military units do not violate the rights of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and this also includes preventing the delivery of urgently needed relief supplies.
