The International Astronomy Center expected the start of the blessed month of Ramadan on Saturday, corresponding to April 2, next, as an astronomer in most Islamic countries.
The Director of the International Astronomy Center, Eng. Muhammad Shawkat Odeh, said that the month of Sha`ban began on Friday, March 4, 2022 in most Islamic countries, so most countries will investigate the crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan on Friday, Sha`ban 29, 1443 AH corresponding to the first of next April.
He explained that seeing the crescent on Friday, the first of April, is not possible with the naked eye from anywhere in the Islamic world, while it is possible using a telescope only and with great difficulty from simple parts of the west of the African continent, noting at the same time that seeing the crescent on that day is possible with the naked eye with great difficulty. In parts of the American continents, while seeing the crescent at that time using astronomical imaging technology is possible with great difficulty in the case of complete serenity of the atmosphere only.
He added that there is a possibility to see the crescent with a telescope from parts of the Islamic world on Friday, and due to the occurrence of the conjunction before sunset and the setting of the moon after sunset in all regions of the Islamic world, it was customary in such circumstances that most countries of the Islamic world announce the start of the month of Ramadan on the next day, which is the day Saturday, April 2, and its period will be 30 days. As for countries that require correct vision with the naked eye only or require correct local vision, and these are few countries, it is expected that the blessed month of Ramadan will begin on Sunday, April 3, and its period will be in some of them 29 days and in others 30 days.
