Malaysia 35 cases of influenza-like illness in Perak state between January and Saturday.
The 35 outbreaks were in educational institutions, Malaysia’s New Straits Times newspaper reported, Muhammad Akmal Kamaruddin, head of the Health, Science, Environment and Green Technology Commission in Perak state, said.
Muhammad Akmal said, “Most of these cases received treatment in outpatient clinics only. The outbreak is still under control, and no deaths (due to it) have been recorded.”
He said that hotbeds of the disease are still active in several areas of the state.
Muhammad Akmal explained that the flu-like disease is contagious and any person or student who shows symptoms must self-isolate.
