Italian industrial production grew by 6.3% in one year. Minister Brunetta: “2021 GDP can go beyond estimates and reach + 6.5%”
Leap forward of1.9% from the Italian industrial production in the month of November 2021: according to what is estimated by ISTAT in economic terms, after the drop in October, the level of the index even reaches exceed the value of February 2020 by 3.1%, month before the start of the health emergency. In particular, considering that there were 21 calendar working days in November, the overall index increases in trend terms of 6.3%. While in the average of the September-November quarter the level of production grew by 0.6% compared to the previous quarter.
The monthly seasonally adjusted index shows economic increases in all groupings main industries, with positive changes for energy that grew by 4.6%, capital goods up by 2%, consumer goods at + 1.7% and intermediate goods at + 0.8%. Significant trend increases characterize energy up by 12.4% and consumer goods which hit 9.4%; more contained is the growth for intermediate goods at + 4.3% and capital goods at + 3.8%.
“All major business sectors are growing on a monthly basis, with a larger increase for the energy sector. In trend terms, net of calendar effects, both the general index and many of the sectoral ones show marked increases “, Istat notes in the comment.
In detail, i sectors of economic activity that record the greatest trend increases i am the manufacture of coke and petroleum products refined products up by 25.1%, the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air up by 13.3% and production of pharmaceutical products basic and pharmaceutical preparations that increase double-digit to + 11.6%. Trend downturns are recorded only in the mining activities down by 11.0%, in the manufacturing of means of transport down by -9.3% and in the manufacturing of electrical equipment down by 1.8%.
“The Italian industry is in excellent health, indeed, it acts as a locomotive in Europe. The Istat data confirms a more than positive trend in the economic cycle relating to industry output which, thanks to an excellent carry-over effect on 2022, leads us to review the increase in GDP estimates for the year just ended and to strengthen expectations for the year that has just opened “, commented the Minister of Public Administration, Renato Brunetta who then underlined: “If growth of around + 1% were to be recorded in the last quarter of 2021, we should revise upwards, once again, the growth forecasts of the Italian economy from + 6.3% to + 6.4% o even at + 6.5%“.
