The government’s choice not to support the green transition in the world of four wheels through new incentives was not digested by the trade associations, Anfia and Unrae above all, who spoke without too many words of bewilderment about this decision. The risk is precisely that of curbing sales of new electric and hybrid cars, a segment that up to now has seen constant growth thanks to concessions tax proposals for their purchase: in 2021 sales of new electric cars were 67,500, while hybrid ones were 69,000, both figures higher than those of the previous year.
As today’s edition of Il Corriere della Sera explains, however, the cancellation of the incentives from the 2022 Budget law is due to one state of profound uncertainty both operators and customers: automotive companies and related industries live on programming, such drastic and sudden changes can have disastrous effects on employment. “Incentives, also of a fiscal nature, linked to the acquisition and ownership of vehicles, in particular if they concern companies, in addition to bonuses for buyers, invite you to purchase 100% electric or electrified cars, contributing to the replacement of obsolete circulating fleets – reads the newspaper – Italy still has about 13 million non-compliant vehicles with the envisaged measures, 60% with more than 10 years “.
Meanwhile, time passes, and the deadline after which it will no longer be possible to sell new cars equipped with a heat engine in our country is approaching: the Interministerial Committee for Ecological Transition confirmed 2035 as the deadline, just over ten years later and the circulation of vehicles with internal combustion engines will be banned. “Despite the numerous reminders, no answer has yet been given by the competent ministry as to how it intends to define the purchase incentive and how to develop the charging infrastructures, when one of the planned missions of the NRP is precisely the strengthening of the column distribution network“, concludes the newspaper.
