Today, in the Kremlin, a ceremony was held to imitate the state’s medals for those who deserve it, where Russian President Vladimir Putin personally imitated them. Among the recipients of the decorations was the Director of the Russian Institute of Ophthalmology, Youssef Naem Yousef, who was honored with the Medal of Friendship.
In a video he posted on his personal page, Youssef appeared shaking hands with Putin, receiving the Medal of Friendship, and giving a speech to the Russian President, in Russian, in which he thanked his colleagues and teachers.
Commenting on the video, Youssef wrote: “Today, February 2, 2022, at the ceremony of presenting the highest state awards in the Kremlin, I was honored to receive the Order of Friendship. I thank Vladimir Putin, my teachers, employees, patients and relatives, this award is also for you.”
Youssef Naim Youssef graduated in 1989 from the Faculty of Medicine of the Kalinin Russian City Institute of State Medicine, and then worked as an ophthalmologist in Syria for one year before completing his postgraduate studies with a specialization in ophthalmology in the ophthalmology department of the Sechenov Medical Academy in Moscow.
The Syrian-Russian doctor is currently practicing active surgical work and has performed 40,000 surgeries, most of which involve cataract removal using modern methods and techniques.
Youssef plays a major role in developing Russian-Arab relations, participated in interviews with many Russian and Arab television channels, and has many articles in newspapers and magazines.
