It was the famous Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman who named and theorized about the “liquid society”. The succession of political, economic and social crises and how our attraction to the instantaneous, to fast consumption are shaping a way of being and of relating to each other. Social networks and the click, the culture of headlines, as if everything were a consumer good. Also the information, or the intake of tons of information without the ability to analyze or have references.
The war in Ukraine has erased everything. Remember when we talked about the pandemic? And what about Brexit? Surely within a very short time the same thing will happen to us with the next crisis. Today we analyze one of the characteristics that define our contemporary society: liquid memory.
Who are the referents of our society today? How does headline culture shape our thinking? These are some of the questions that we ask ourselves together with our guests:
– Talía Olvera, political scientist and linguist specializing in media innovation.
– Melissa Serrato, journalist specializing in culture.
– Ariadna Canzio, clinical psychologist.
