The Military Investigation Department (VSO) of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) for the Pechenga garrison opened a criminal case into the death of a conscript soldier in the Murmansk region. It is reported by TASS with reference to the Military Investigation Directorate for the Northern Fleet.
According to the department, the case was initiated on the basis of a crime under Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Negligence, resulting in the death of a person by negligence”), and has not yet been completed.
A source in the emergency services of the region told the agency that a serviceman could die from poisoning with a technical liquid – colorless, with a specific alcoholic odor and sweetish taste. According to him, the conscript could accidentally drink the liquid that he had previously found while cleaning the premises. It is noted that the soldier did not tell anything to the leadership of the unit, was poisoned and fell into a coma.
“They tried to help him in the hospital, but he died a month after the incident,” the source said.
There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
Earlier, in September, two conscripts were killed in the closed-type settlement (ZATO) of Sverdlovsk region in two days. One got lost in the forest during an exercise, climbed onto a power transmission tower, where he was electrocuted, and died. The second conscript committed suicide. A few months ago, two officers died there – the captain and the senior lieutenant.
