Investments in the industry of the Russian capital jumped by a third in the first quarter, said Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Moscow investment and industrial policy department.
According to him, the story of planning and prioritizing the economy has already begun, and Moscow “fits into a new rhythm.”
So, in the first quarter of 2022, the investments of the capital’s industrialists increased by almost a third, the official noted. We are talking about manufacturing enterprises, which over this period have invested more than 30 billion rubles in the Moscow economy, Ovchinsky specified.
“There used to be a myth: the capital is a financial and business center, but not an industrial one. But now 700 thousand citizens are employed in the industry, these are 3 thousand enterprises, Moscow is one of the largest sales markets in Russia,” said the head of the investment and industrial policy department of the capital.
He noticed that the industry itself is changing, becoming more technologically advanced, so now there is no need to create a separate city around the enterprise.
“In 2021, the volume of investments by manufacturing enterprises in Moscow amounted to 151.9 billion rubles (+29.3% by 2020). In the first quarter of 2022, the investments of the capital’s industrialists showed a positive trend: in three months they amounted to 30.7 billion rubles (+31% by 2021),” the official said.
In addition, according to him, the Moscow government, as part of anti-crisis support measures, decided to lease land for five years at a rate of 1 ruble per year. Businesses will be able to develop large-scale investment projects in these territories.
