The European Union agreed to start accession talks with Ukraine next year, making progress conditional on rigorous measures, especially in the fight against corruption. Many of these conditions are actually not defined by Brussels, but by Ukrainian civil society activists, who are calling on the EU to demand the reforms they deem necessary. After resisting the Russian invasion, the community of Ukrainian anti-corruption activists and journalists have redoubled their vigilance.
