Argentina is a pioneer in terms of trans rights. Since 2012, citizens can choose their gender and change identity documents, without a medical or legal agreement. But a decade after the enactment of the world’s most progressive law on gender identity, transgender people still face discrimination in education, health or work. A large number live in precarious conditions and their life expectancy is much lower than that of the rest of the country’s population.
