In the capital of Kalmykia, Elista, a criminal detonated two bombs. The first explosion occurred in the “Alternative” center for mediation and educational services, the second in a private home.

It was initially assumed that the attacker used a hand grenade. However, the destruction turned out to be much larger – the footage published by the Investigative Committee shows that pieces of the wall were lying on the floor.

The criminal turned out to be a mentally ill local resident

It turned out that the criminal was a 29-year-old local resident, Sergei D. He was registered at a psychoneurological dispensary. In the evening he came to the center to see a psychologist, but during the conversation a conflict broke out between them. An employee of the institution, the chief freelance teacher-psychologist in the field of education of the Ministry of Science of Kalmykia, Namdzhil Yamanova, and her husband tried to calm the man, but he activated an explosive device.

The offender received non-life-threatening injuries. The couple was hospitalized, their condition is assessed as stable, there is no threat to life.

The bomber mined his house

After the identity of the criminal was established, investigators went to his private home. During the search, a second explosion occurred in the building on Rodnikovaya Street.

Information about the victims varies. Thus, sources of the publication Baza claimthat three law enforcement officers were injured, and one of them was hospitalized in serious condition with an eye injury and explosive amputation of a limb. Telegram channel Shot, in turn, reports about two injured police officers.

Telegram channel Mash writesthat the security forces discovered a bomb in one of the rooms and blew themselves up while trying to defuse it.

After the explosion at the psychological assistance center, a temporary accommodation center (TAP) was opened in the city, said the mayor of Elista, Shafran Tepshinov. He clarified that the temporary temporary detention center was deployed at the school, but no one had asked for help yet. The mayor also added that a hotline for telephone calls will be launched in the morning. He urged residents not to panic and assured that the situation was under control.
