The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday (8) that its troops found underground facilities belonging to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas for the manufacture of long-range missiles, the largest weapons manufacturing site found in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, three months ago.
“The military has taken control of an underground missile manufacturing site used to produce long-range projectiles capable of reaching northern Israel,” a military spokesman said.
“In recent weeks, troops have been operating in Bureij, in the center of the Palestinian territory, and have discovered several tunnel openings that reach a depth of around 30 meters and, with precise intelligence, have discovered a terrorist stronghold used to manufacture weapons,” he added .
Additionally, the military located several other underground production facilities used to manufacture long-range rockets, explosives and precision enhancers for Hamas mortars, small arms and drones, in operations that resulted in the deaths of dozens of terrorists, according to the IDF.
The region is connected to a network of branching tunnels that was used to transport weapons to all Hamas battalions in the Gaza Strip, the spokesman said.
The discovery announced on Monday “significantly affected the enemy's ability to produce and improve these weapons,” the Israeli army said.
