The energy company Iberdrola has recognized the best initiatives for the coexistence of renewable energies with nature, the environment and people in the second edition of its awards Live togetherin an event held in Paredes de Nava (Palencia), which was attended by its president, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, and the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco.
With these awards Iberdrola recognizes the best initiatives for environmental, agricultural and social coexistence with clean energy, highlighting eight projects that exemplify the advantages of the energy transition for the rural world and its positive impact on job creation and development.
In this second edition of the Awards Live togetherIberdrola has recognized, in collaboration with the Center for Innovation in Technology for Human Development of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (itdUPM), the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development (REDS-SDSN) and the company Ocean Ecostructures (Innovative Solutions and Research category).
Also to Salamanc Electrical Techniques and Installationsa -Tecinsa- (Social and Business Entrepreneurship category), a Iberian Press (Communication and Awareness category), to the pastor Patricia Rebollo (Youth category), and Paredes de Nava Town Hall and to La Serna Town Hall (Local entities and citizen participation category).
Finally, the special Biodiversity Award has gone to the Biodiversity and Global Change Research Center of the Autonomous University of Madrid (CIBC-UAM).
In his speech during the awards ceremony, the president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Sánchez Galanunderlined the energy company’s commitment to “improving people’s lives and doing so in harmony with the environment” and framed the initiative of these awards in this.
Galán also highlighted the benefits that renewables have for the rural environment. “Today we recognize brave bets for the energy transition. We advocate promoting industry, employment and the future to create a more just, fraternal and sustainable society,” he stated.
He Coexist Program of Iberdrola was born with the purpose of facilitate the acceleration of clean energy development in Spain, improving its contribution to the territories, society, biodiversity and the rural world.
This initiative pursues the objectives of promoting continuous improvement and the best practices available in the integration of renewables, electrical networks and energy storage in the environmentand on the other hand, contribute positively to local development and the conservation of biodiversity through collaboration and establishment of alliances.
