Murmansk Governor Chibis met with residents of Apatity before the attack
The governor of the Murmansk region, Andrei Chibis, was stabbed in the stomach. He was attacked during a meeting with local residents in Apatity.
The politician managed to walk to his car on his own. He was hospitalized at the Apatity-Kirov central city hospital. Later, an additional team of doctors headed by the regional Minister of Health left Murmansk to help local surgeons.
Doctors assess Chibis' condition as serious, but there is no threat to his life. He was operated on and transferred to the intensive care unit.

The attacker on the governor turned out to be 42-year-old resident of Apatit, Alexander Bydanov. During his arrest, he was wounded in the leg by a Russian Guard officer who was on duty at the event. The law enforcement officer used his service weapon.

During the interrogation, he explained to interrogators that a voice in his head ordered him to attack the politician. It turned out that the man suffers from severe back pain and takes potent drugs. A neurologist prescribed him medications in the form of injections and tablets. Before going to a meeting with the politician, the man took another dose of drugs. At the same time, Bydanov’s relatives claim that he did not suffer from hallucinations and was not registered with a psychiatrist.
It also became known that Bydanov previously worked on the railway. He was charged with causing harm to health.
