Less and less to go “Avatar: The Way of Water”, the sequel to the acclaimed 2009 film directed by James Cameron, hits theaters. After its successful worldwide remastered re-release, it has been revealed how long this second film in the saga will last, which plans to release at least three other parts.
The World of reel portal revealed that the continuation of the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) will last no less than 30 minutes more than its predecessor.
And this has reminded fans the harsh warning James Cameron gave a few months ago in which he compared the length of his work with that of other streaming series that are usually seen in marathons.
When will “Avatar 2″ last?
“Avatar: the path of water” will last three hours and 10 minutes. According to the portal, it has been a Chinese media that would have confirmed the news.
Their 190 minutes they make it longer than Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon” by just two minutes. Likewise, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, another of Marvel’s blockbusters, will last two hours.
James Cameron’s Warning
This would make it the longest-running film of 2022 (and possibly in recent years), as well as the longest in James Cameron’s filmography.
“I don’t want anyone complaining about the length (of ‘Avatar 2’) when they sit and watch TV for eight hours,” warned the filmmaker in July of this year.
Previously, Cameron has already made public his intention to make feature films that have two versions: one very long and one short. “I want to make a film that is six hours long and (another) two and a half hours at the same time”he explained.
“Avatar: the path of water” opens on December 16 worldwide and a day before in Peru.
