“There is no greater miracle than our conscious efforts to become good human beings.”
Shri Chinmoy
I share with you that nothing seems more extraordinary to me – after appreciating life in all its forms and relationships; mineral, vegetable, animal – than the act of thinking.
Thought, that complexity of ideas, an abstraction that fits in the brain mass, that goes beyond the physical context, makes me think, it seems like a play on words to think the thought or to think that we think.
Here we are in the third decade of the 21st century, human beings migrating en masse due to economy or insecurity, by their own will or by the will of others who believe they own destinations that are not their own.
Thousands of years ago we tried life in society and we continue trying. We know we need to do more. I wonder about the value that you, who read, give to life. “From the point and time”, those who talk tasty would say, you who read are generating critical thinking. That is encouraging to me. We may not agree on certain issues, think we are closer than we imagine and we can build bridges and solutions to our differences. Putin does not understand that, the man is happy destroying Ukraine and scaring nations, thundering big tricks of a million and a half dollars. What infamy! Meanwhile, cities and municipalities of Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora do not have water, people can only buy a ration, just enough to reach half.
I don’t get the technology accounts, humanity already has satellites and space debris roaming the earth. The “Perseverance” and the daily Ingenuity helicopter even report selfies of their stay on Mars, the Voyager that left in 1977 entered interstellar space at a speed of 56 thousand km per hour, it has engraved on a golden disc “the desire of the human race of surviving its time and its space”. I also remind you of the message that the astronauts of the Apollo XI mission left on a plaque on the moon in 1969, “We come in peace for all mankind.” That’s how we human beings are, fakers, a friend would say, street lamp, darkness of her house, my mother said. We have the earth on the brink of a tragedy of colossal magnitude. Fighting over bullshit.
I return to the drought, I don’t bring another thought, if we have oil pipelines, gas pipelines, can’t we have aqueducts? Can’t we share the water that abounds in the central and southeastern regions of the country?
I am certain that, if governments gave science and education more resources and we had facilities open to project research, with clear support, we would solve a series of problems that are common to us. to do that we need to be good. Being intelligent in the most emphatic meaning of the term.
It hurts me to think of my brother awake from midnight to dawn filling buckets with a trickle of water in Baja Sur, with the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean nearby. So much water and the population is thirsty, don’t even tell me it’s salty, I’m from the sea, science and technology that work on the issue, that they solve it, that the governments invest in it. I think the same for our mountains when the drought burns the cattle, the farmland, the human beings. We touch Mars, we leave the solar system, we besiege cities, we run people from their places, we win elections with violence, we govern without guilt or remorse and let ourselves be with hugs (how ugly), and so we take steps backwards, please, for your mother, for all you want, do not stop thinking that if we can have a better society so that there is a Reason for Being.
Postscript. – An honor to share with Master Jacobo Sedano his 82nd birthday.
Beautiful in his trousseau Huichol presented us with the Sinaloa suit designed by him, after arduous investigation of Sinaloan folklore, his legacy to the state that adopted him and to whom he offered his creative work. Embrace always dear Master Sedano.
