In Helsinki enough sanding rubble for the end of spring, even though less dusty rubble is running out, says the city’s street maintenance team manager Tarja Myller.

The situation in Espoo is due to the fact that the streets have been sanded more than usual due to the exceptionally slippery winter.

Helsinki does not suffer from the same problem. Myller says the city will have another quality of crushed stone at its disposal.
“Because less dusty gravel is not available, it is now only used in key areas with the most users,” Myller says.
“So overall, the anti-slip agents are still enough.”

Vättö thinks that the shortage of washed chips is due to the fact that suppliers were not prepared for the high demand for washed chips. Therefore, the stocks of crushed stone washed up during the summer have run out. According to Vätö, crumbs can no longer be washed in the cold.
