17 years after its premiere, “How I met your mother” (the distinguished work of Craig Thomas and Carter Bays) remains one of the most memorable television series by fans who have seen it on Amazon Prime Video or when it aired on CBS and FOX. The show – which also launched a spin-off called “How I met your father” this year – has chapters to laugh, cry and reflect on, but also moments that evoke mystery. Do you remember “The Pineapple Incident”?
This is the tenth episode of the first season (released in 2005) in which, after getting drunk with a drink called “Red Dragon”, Ted wakes up the next morning with a pineapple next to him on his nightstand..
After solving a series of unknowns about the night before together with his friends Marshall, Lily, Barney and Robin, finally there is only one last question to solve: Where did that mysterious fruit come from?
The mystery solved 10 years later
It would not be until the year 2015 that the fans would be able to obtain an answer to this great enigma. But this would not come so easy, because the moment that ends the unknown, was never broadcast on television nor is it streaming.
So where did it come from? It is a deleted scene belonging to the extra material of the DVD of the ninth season of “How I met your mother”.
In this scene, Ted says goodbye to ‘El Capitan’ at the door of his house and notices that there is a pineapple next to the door. He explains that the sailors place this fruit as a “symbol of hospitality” and that he has one just like it in his house in the city.
So we jump to a 2005 flashback in which Mosby walks down the street drunk and a pineapple is stolen from the entrance of a house. In this way, we understand that this home, like the pineapple, belonged to the navigator.
Thus, “The Pineapple Incident” came to an end. Undoubtedly, one of the most sought-after curiosities of the series that even today the most fans remember.
