Dr. Alexander Myasnikov announced that scientists are studying in detail the neurodegenerative Parkinson’s disease, and devising ways to at least reduce the severity of its symptoms and slow its progression, according to RT.
Myasnikov points out, in a TV program, that despite this, the causes of Parkinson’s disease remain unclear to scientists.
He says, Parkinson’s disease – a chronic disease that affects the elderly, and causes damage and death of nerve cells in the brain.
He adds, disturbing dreams can be a harbinger of Parkinson’s disease. He stressed the importance of early diagnosis of the disease, pointing to the currently known ways to prevent this disease.
According to him, scientific studies have shown that this disease rarely develops in coffee drinkers. It is also less prevalent among people with high blood pressure, and among smokers.
“The death rate from Parkinson’s disease is higher among those with intellectual work and higher socioeconomic status,” he says.
He adds, to prevent disease, physical activity is recommended. And taking painkillers can protect against Parkinson’s disease.
