The premiere of the first episode of “House of the dragon”, the new HBO Max series, has given much to talk about. From the family tree of the Targaryens to the imminent and fatal fate of Rhaenyra. However, only a few fans have noticed its significant connection to Jon Snow’s upcoming TV series, which will bring back actor Kit Harrington.
Then, How would “House of the Dragon” be connected to the upcoming show that will expand “Game of Thrones”?
The song of ice and fire
Near the end of the first chapter, Viserys explains to Rhaenyra that Aegon ‘The Conqueror’, the first Targaryen king of the seven kingdoms, not only conquered Westeros by power, but also by a vision of the end of the world.
According to this prophecy, the end of mankind will begin with a long winter that will bring great evil blowing from the far north. For this not to happen, a Targaryen king or queen must gather all Westeros to face it.
However, in “Game of thrones”, when this threat (the white walkers) arrives, there were no Targaryens on the Iron Throne. Furthermore, the “long winter” only lasted one night and took place only in Winterfell.
This could mean that this would only be the beginning of the end that Aegon I saw in his dream. The conclusion could come in the Jon Snow series, where he would finally be the one to rise as king in some way.
Jon Snow spin-off
George RR Martin reconfirmed this August that the spin-off and sequel to “Game of Thrones”, starring Kit Harrington (Aegon VII Targaryen/Jon Snow), is still in development.
Here we could see something related to the prophecy of Aegon I, but the truth is that HBO has not yet given more details about the plot of the series.
