Holland | Several were injured when the train derailed

Several one person has been seriously injured in a train accident in southern Holland, reports the news agency Reuters, among others.

According to initial information, a passenger train collided with a freight train near the town of Voorschoten. According to new information, the passenger train may have collided with construction machinery.

The passenger train derailed after the collision. One wagon overturned on its side and the last wagon caught fire.

The train there were at least 50 people on board. Several rescue units are on the scene and people have been evacuated from the train.

Voorschoten is located between The Hague and Amsterdam. The Dutch railway operator NS announced on Twitter that train services between Leiden and The Hague have been canceled due to the accident.
