From the sea the renowned Tappara made his kind of hockey history on Tuesday when he made it to the top eight in the Champions League CHL for the first time.
The Tampere team defeated the Swedish Växjö 4–2 at home in the second quarterfinals and advanced to the semi-finals with 6–4 goals.
Växjö led the match 2-1 at the start of the third round, but Tappara hit three hits in a row. He was the winner Anton Levtchin a 3–2 hit in 45.38.
“A great moment for this organization. The first time Tappara is so far in this competition, ”is Tappara’s head coach Jussi Tapola rejoiced in the press release.
In the quarterfinals, Tappara will face Salzburg in Austria or Rouen in France in December.
