Hockey Lion cult player Marko Anttila finds the isolation unfair: “The dome is stuck”

Sunday’s rescue was to get a hot pizza in an isolation hotel.

Hockey player Marko Anttila came on Sunday for four days in a secluded corona hotel in Beijing.

It has been more and more difficult for Anttila to accept the situation. He trained in Finland with the Lions before leaving for Beijing and gave the required negative samples after his corona infection on 19 January.

“I try to train at the same time,” says Anttila about the isolation. “Physically, I’m fine, but of course it’s annoying and the dome is stuck. Let’s move on moment by moment. ”

“I do weightlifting, squats, mid-body exercises and I got aids here that I can use to train with my own body weight.”

The Finnish team provided Anttila with tools such as an elastic band and other small-space aids to facilitate training.

Anttila says that he is staying in a room of about ten square meters, where “you can just make a stomach”.

Situation is at once heavy and frustrating for Anttila when his ct values saw and do not want to exceed the 35 limit required by the Chinese authorities three times in a row or twice the 40 limit.

“It’s a tough disappointment. I consider myself healthy and I have three weeks from the infection. By all accounts, I should be able to train. I don’t see an obstacle to that. ”

Doctor of the Finnish Olympic team Maarit Valtonen said that according to him and the known medicine, the isolation of Anttila is completely unjustified.

“I understand that if I had gotten infected here, it would be a whole different matter. To my knowledge, I am no longer contagious, ”says Anttila.

In corona insulation there are more problems than just being long. In the first days, Anttila got cold food, which was brought from the Olympic village and had time to cool down on the way.

Sunday was like a holiday when the Finnish team delivered pizza to Anttila.

“It’s quite a twist to get something here. There is water here after all. ”

Anttila says that training brings refreshment when it makes the blood circulate, but otherwise the entertainment is scarce. The hardest part is accepting the status quo.

“I don’t feel this is fair.”

Anttila makes whatsapp calls to her family and playmates and gets a boost for the day. He has read the isolation, but the television did not start operating until Saturday.

Are you wondering if you would go home?

“I’m such a tough guy and the will to fight is not enough to give up. In itself, it is time for me to do it. ”

In isolation, Anttila has to put up with uncertainty and can’t really do anything but practice. If and when the quarantine ended, Anttila would like to be ready to play immediately.

“The hardest part is because I was excited about the opportunity to play at the Olympics.”

As the captain of the lions, Anttila was winning World Cup gold in Bratislava in the spring of 2019 – and Anttila was the player who settled important matches for Finland, culminating in two goals against Canada in the World Cup final.

In his long career, Anttila, 36, has played four times at the World Championships and got a taste of the Olympic drug at the Pyeongchang Games in South Korea four years ago. At that time, Anttila’s role remained small, but after that he became the captain of the Lions and a kind of cult player.

“There’s no worries here like that, it’s just unfair to have to be here. I am in a positive position to join the team. ”

Finland will play their first match against Slovakia in Beijing on Thursday, February 10th. The men’s Olympic tournament kicks off the day before.
