Hitachi Vantara, specializing in data storage, infrastructure and hybrid cloud management, announced a groundbreaking partnership with NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) to develop a new generation of transformative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. This collaboration will give life to a portfolio of solutions called Hitachi iQdesigned to catalyze the process of generating AI-driven results by integrating industry-specific capabilities with existing AI solutions, thus generating more relevant results for individual businesses.
Emerging data-intensive technologies, such as generative AI, are accelerating business transformation. However, they also increase pressure on already stressed IT environments. According to a recent report from S&P Global Market Intelligence, only a third of respondents believe their company can always handle internal demand for AI workloads. The partnership between Hitachi Vantara and NVIDIA aims to overcome these challenges by introducing hybrid cloud-enabled AI capabilities to accelerate the acquisition of business insights.
Sheila Rohra, CEO of Hitachi Vantara, underlined the importance of the partnership: “
Being part of Hitachi allows us to leverage broad expertise across multiple industry sectors, supporting the acceleration of AI-driven digital transformation. This collaboration allows us to combine NVIDIA's leadership in AI with our expertise in hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions and services, addressing future challenges and supporting customers in developing a solid foundation for data-driven innovation.
”
Hitachi iQ solutions, based on NVIDIA's latest AI technologies and Hitachi Vantara's cutting-edge storage platforms aim to meet market needs and facilitate the digital transformation of enterprises. The flexibility of the offer will allow customers to choose the most suitable consumption model, guaranteeing optimized performance and a better return on investment.
The first product in the Hitachi iQ portfolio, powered by NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, will launch in the first quarter of Hitachi's fiscal year, starting in April 2024. This solution, certified NVIDIA DGX BasePOD, will include NVIDIA DGX H100 systems and NVIDIA software AI Enterprise, offering a new AI-powered architecture to tackle complex artificial intelligence workloads.
“Companies across all industries are establishing AI centers for data intelligence,” said Charlie Boyle, vice president of DGX platforms at NVIDIA. “With solutions powered by NVIDIA DGX software and infrastructure, Hitachi Vantara customers will be able to create AI centers of excellence and enhance their generative AI strategies.”
As part of a broader collaboration with NVIDIA, Hitachi will focus on creating basic models specific to Operational Technology (OT)positioning itself as one of the top companies to develop industry-specific generative AI models, which will support businesses in responding to the needs of data-driven digital transformation. Hitachi iQ, together with Hitachi's ecosystem of partners and subsidiaries, will be at the heart of this initiative to harness the full potential of AI in improving businesses.
