Jonathan Hill's departure as chief executive of the Irish Football Association has been confirmed at the end of this month.
Hill assumed his current position in November 2020, but was subjected to harsh criticism before the Public Accounts Committee in the House of Representatives last February, after he was summoned to discuss the audit of the Football Association’s accounts by the Irish Sports Council.
The Board of Directors of the Football Association of Ireland announced that Hill will leave his position on April 30, and will be replaced by an interim CEO.
Hill was subjected to harsh criticism because of his explanation before the Public Accounts Committee regarding his receipt of 11,550 euros from the Football Association in lieu of unused leave.
Hill paid the amount, in addition to another 8,000 euros he received for transportation expenses, after an audit revealed that his salary had exceeded the maximum allowable amount of 270,000 euros.
