As you probably know, the PC version of Helldivers 2 was removed from sale on Steam in several countries, precisely in those where PSN is not available. Players were not happy about the issue at all and wondered whether the choice was Sony’s or Valve’s. Now, Steam spokespersons have confirmed that the removal is totally an editor’s choice, Sony. Valve has not made any decisions in this regard.
These statements should put an end to the players’ doubts, but they clearly will not put an end to the discontent of all those players who they can no longer purchase and play Helldivers 2 in countries where there is no support for the PlayStation Network.
Helldivers 2, Steam and the PSN: let’s take stock
If by chance you are new to the issue, let’s take stock of what has happened recently. Sony announced that players of Helldivers 2 on Steam would need to link a PSN account to the game for security reasons. It would become a requirement to play on PC and players didn’t react well to it. The company explained that it had always been a requirement, but that initially due to technical problems they had left the connection optional.
It matters little, because gamers reacted more vehemently than Sony probably expected. The company ultimately canceled its plans, even following the arrival of a huge number of negative reviews. Helldivers 2 has however been removed from around 180 countries where PSN is not available and Valve has suggested contacting Sony to find out in detail when the game will be available on Steam again.
While waiting for news in this sense, we can see that the CEO of Arrowhead suggests the return of a faction from the first game.
