The franchise of Helldivers it wasn't particularly well known even among gamers and it's definitely not a name that immediately comes to mind when you think of PlayStation. Now, however, the situation is slowly changing and the CEO of Arrowhead and director of the game – Johan Pilestedt – admits that it is something incredible, a “dream that comes true”.
The discussion arose from a Twitter post not exactly positive, which proclaimed that PlayStation and Nintendo are the “only two real video game brands”. The message included an image of various PlayStation and Nintendo characters. Pilestedt asked why the Helldivers 2 soldiers weren't included among the PlayStation heroes, and the user said: “As much as I love Helldivers, it's still not a game you immediately think of… 'oh Helldivers, damn yes PlayStation'. Not yet, but damn if it's close.”
To this point Pilestedt replied: “I agree with you. It's crazy that this could happen in the future… like… It's a childhood dream of mine come true“.
For avoid the console war, remember that Arrowhead Game Studio is independent, although Helldivers 2 is an exclusive PlayStation console. Additionally, Pilestedt has previously said that Nintendo is “the reason I became a developer.” So we have Mario and Zelda to thank for the existence of Helldivers 2, in a way.
