The counselor Pedreño announces that two Covid outbreaks with 28 infections have been detected in two educational centers in Los Alcázares
The municipality of Los Alcázares has become the first town in the Region of Murcia to detect a coronavirus outbreak in its educational centers. These are a couple of outbreaks registered in two different centers, with 11 and 17 cases respectively, all of them Early Childhood Education students. These 28 positives have caused the municipality to go to a high alert level, along with San Javier and Abarán, according to the Health Minister, Juan José Pedreño, after the meeting of the Covid Monitoring Committee on Tuesday. Regarding the rest of the municipalities, 12 remain at a medium risk level and 30 at a low level.
In this regard, Pedreño insisted on the importance of complying with current prevention regulations, “which have made schools safe places against Covid in our Region.” Regarding the presence of the Delta Plus variant, the counselor explained that there are no references in the Region.
Despite this outbreak, the incidence of Covid is evolving favorably in the Community and in the last week it has fallen by 10%, to 51 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. Thus, the rate is just one point away from being considered low risk again.
In this scenario, the counselor Pedreño explained that, as of this Wednesday, it will once again be allowed to consume standing at high tables in the hotel and catering venues, celebration rooms and nightlife, although it is not allowed to “wander between tables.” This measure also does not apply to bar consumption, where Pedreño explained that “the concentration of people is higher” and food is “more exposed.” The rest of the measures remain in force for another week, clarified the head of Health.
Vaccination campaign
The counselor recalled that this Tuesday the flu campaign started, specifically in the group over 70 years of age, who will also receive the third booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. This vaccination, intended to immunize people with a higher risk of presenting complications, will be carried out from health centers and specific points in certain areas and citizens will be able to make an appointment online at the patient portal or by phone at their clinic.
So far, more than 9,000 people have made an appointment online to receive the flu vaccine and the third dose, to which must be added the telephone appointments that are made in the health centers themselves.
Pedreño pointed out that the number of people vaccinated with the complete schedule amounts to 1,663,833 in the Region of Murcia, which represents about 89% of the population to be vaccinated. Therefore, there are about 115,000 who have not yet received a dose.
Regarding the Covid Certificate, whose presentation allows reaching one hundred percent of the indoor capacity in the hotel industry, the leisure sector and celebrations, Pedreño pointed out that 67,000 new ones have been requested, which represents an increase of 10% to exceed 770,000 current issued in the Region of Murcia.
The counselor explained that there is also an increase in appointments for the first doses. In this sense, the technical spokesperson for the Covid Monitoring Committee asserted that there has been a “slight increase” compared to last week, with 200 more people vaccinated, confirming “a slightly upward trend” that reached 1,000 last week. .
