Due to a software error, health insurer CZ has paid tens of thousands of customers higher compensation than they were entitled to in 2022 or 2023. A spokesperson for the insurer confirmed this on Tuesday NRC after reporting from de Volkskrant. In total, CZ would reclaim millions of euros in money. This would mainly concern reimbursements relating to oral care.
The error was caused by a defect in the new software that the health insurer uses to calculate its reimbursements. Customers who had taken out additional insurance for oral care as a result of an accident were also reimbursed for treatment outside that scheme, the spokesperson said. As a result, tens of thousands of customers received money for dental care that was not the result of an accident.
The spokesperson does not want to elaborate further on exact amounts, but says it concerns a few tens of euros per customer. Anyone affected by the calculation error has now received a letter of apology from CZ. Customers who wish to do so will have the option to make the refund in payment terms.
