A new tragic accident occurred in Egypt today, Friday, where a man in his fifties killed his wife while she was sleeping and then took his life by eating an insecticide in Fayoum Governorate (southwest of Cairo).
The Egyptian authorities stated that a 50-year-old farmer came to the Atsa police station in Fayoum governorate, to tell them that he had killed his wife while she was sleeping in the lap of their eight-year-old child due to frequent marital disputes between them.
And the security forces moved to the crime scene, and upon their arrival they found the body of the 48-year-old wife, with a smashed head and drenched in blood on her child’s bed.
The Public Prosecution ordered an autopsy of the body and a statement of the injuries, and then handed over to her family for the funeral of her body to her final resting place.
The farmer was presented to the prosecution, but during the investigations with him, thick foam began to fall from his mouth, and symptoms of poisoning appeared on him, so he was transferred to a Fayoum hospital, and it was found that he had taken an insecticide to end his life in grief for having killed his wife.
Doctors failed to save his life after performing a gastric lavage, but he died of poisoning as a result of ingesting an insecticide, which caused a sharp drop in blood circulation, and his body was transferred to the same mortuary next to the body of his wife, who recommended that they be buried together.
