Pop star Harry Styles (27) interrupted his concert in the American city of Milwaukee this week to help a fan come out. The former One Direction singer read a sign held up by 23-year-old college student McKinley McConnell, then addressed her mother, who was elsewhere in the arena. “I will carry this moment with me forever.”
“My mom is in box 201. Help me come out,” read the sign McKinley held up at the Fiserv Forum. Harry mocked her message and went to the political science student, who was standing on the floor near the stage. The performer left the lights on and inquired about the mother’s name.
“What do you want to say to your mother?” he asked, according to videos from fans in the audience. ,,There are a lot of people”, the fan shouted about the sold-out hall, which fits 18,000 people. ,,That’s right, didn’t you know that?” Harry laughed. “Have you thought this through?”

He gave her a chance to talk into the microphone himself, but she preferred that he told. The singer walked to the other side of the stage, looked at the box where the mother was sitting and shouted: “Lisa, she’s gay!”
The woman had meanwhile been seen on the big screens, clapping her hands over her face in emotion, while the audience cheered. “I don’t want to ruin the moment,” Harry said jokingly. “But wouldn’t it be nice if you were a little closer together?”

The Los Angeles fan and her mom were so far apart because McKinley bought her a ticket at the last minute and she doesn’t like being on the churning floor, she tells NBC News.
She speaks of ‘a moment that I will carry with me forever’. “Thank you for creating a safe space for me,” she wrote to Styles on Twitter.
McKinley thinks her mother had suspicions about her sexuality before coming out through Harry. ,,Afterwards she said to me: you have always had a feeling for grand gestures. I am more than blessed to have parents who support me so much. My mom kept saying she loves me and is proud.”

As beautiful as the mother thought the evening was, it was a bit overwhelming. “She had to cry. I didn’t expect her to cry so much, I think she’s just impressed by it all. She works in a school and students came up to her and started talking about it.” Mother Lisa Bibik considered the event an “honour” and something you experience “once in your life”.
McKinley, who has been a fan of One Direction and has followed Harry for years, is still in shock. “I can’t quite grasp it yet. I don’t see myself recovering from this any time soon.”
It wasn’t the first time Harry has helped a fan come out. Recently, for example, he helped a spectator during his concert with his so-called bisexual– waving flag.
