Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry joined the company Ethic, which promotes investments that respect environmental, social and governance criteria.
In addition to investing resources in the company, the couple becomes an “impact partner”, informed Ethic on its website on Tuesday, without giving details about the role of the couple.
Prince Harry and Meghan “share a number of values with us and, we suspect, many of you,” the company noted. “By working together, we hope to inform, educate and inspire widespread action around some of the most important and defining issues of our era.”
In an interview with the New York Times newspaper, the couple explained that they want to democratize the idea of investing, and of doing it in responsible companies. “In the world I come from, there is no talk of investing, right? We don’t have the luxury of being able to invest, it looks so elegant,” said Meghan. “My husband has been telling me for years, ‘Wouldn’t you like there to be a place in line with our values where we could invest our money?’” he said, explaining that friends had commented to the couple about Ethic.
