His Highness also stressed the importance of international cooperation in imposing the rule of law and combating crime in all its forms, especially transnational organized crime, including the exchange of information, expertise and successful experiences, and effective systems in addressing all forms of crime, including cybercrime, and what that requires. By strengthening the levels of partnership between police agencies worldwide, while His Highness praised the high-level performance of the UAE security services, and the successes they have achieved in standing firmly in the face of all forms of crimes, and the approach they adopt in building bridges of constructive cooperation with the police agencies around The world, which is embodied in the UAE’s hosting of the World Police Summit in order to activate a fruitful and effective dialogue on ways to enhance international cooperation in this field.
During the opening session of the summit, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the attendees watched a documentary film, which dealt with the role of Dubai Police in enhancing security and safety between the past, present and future, and its constant keenness to keep pace with the latest technologies in combating crime.
His Highness inaugurated the exhibition accompanying the summit, where he was briefed on the most prominent technologies and advanced technologies that support work in the field of combating cybercrime, security forecasting, digital currencies, surveillance and insurance, smart cities, drones, and future crimes.
His Highness stopped at the experts’ platform, “Experts Hub”, organized by the Dubai Police Scholars Council on the sidelines of the World Police Summit, to be a point of contact between experts in seven different specialized fields, discussing the most important challenges facing them in the police and security sector, leading to effective solutions to meet these challenges. .
His Highness was also briefed on what is included in the exhibition through the participating international companies, in terms of proactive solutions and advanced security technologies, and their impact on combating crime and reducing its negative repercussions on societies.
The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al-Marri, revealed, during his opening speech to the summit, that 597 international wanted persons had been seized during the last three years, from 2020 to the end of 2022. Their charges varied between money laundering, drug trafficking, and managing organized gangs.
Al-Marri said that the country’s leadership has set its sights on achieving security, and has worked on that in all of the country’s strategies and plans, believing that security is a need, not a luxury, and that a sense of security is the focus of economic, social and political growth.
He pointed out that international criminals seized by Dubai Police were wanted by 101 countries, pointing out that cooperation was also evident in the exchange of intelligence information, as Dubai Police provided 9012 information to 195 countries and 50 law enforcement organizations and agencies.
He pointed out that the efforts of the UAE during the aforementioned period also resulted in the recovery of 85 suspects who were wanted by the state on charges, most notably forgery, breach of trust, theft and embezzlement.
He explained that the Dubai Police played a prominent role in participating and implementing joint intelligence operations and tasks to combat organized crime and apprehend its perpetrators. in 2021, in cooperation with France, and Operation Desert Light in 2022, which included five countries, and all resulted in severe blows to organized gangs.
Al-Marri stressed that the Global Police Summit is an extension of the major events hosted by the Emirate of Dubai, and in its second edition it will complete the successes it achieved in its first edition, by bringing together inspiring leaders and leading thinkers, with 15,000 law enforcement and security specialists, and more than 250 security technology providers. , and 2,000 speakers with the aim of discussing the future of police work and exchanging information, experiences and expertise.
