(Reuters) – Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian striker Erling Haaland will spend a few weeks out of action after suffering a hip injury, coach Marco Rose said on Friday.
Haaland only returned to the fields after a thigh problem last week, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Mainz 05 in the German league.
The 21-year-old also played the full 90 minutes in Tuesday’s 4-0 loss to Ajax in the Champions League.
Speaking ahead of Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash with Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, Rose told reporters: “Erling will be out, we’ll be without him for a few weeks. He has a hip flexor injury that just won’t allow him to play.” It’s the same leg, but in another place.”
“Erling was really down yesterday because he was happy to be back again. It’s not good for us that he’s out again, it’s not good for him, but Erling will have all the support he needs from the club, from the team.”
The Norwegian posted a message on Twitter saying: “It’s time to focus on my recovery.” I’ll be back stronger”!
Second-placed Dortmund are a point behind leaders Bayern Munich after eight games.
