The Xunta Council has approved the layout project of the pending section that culminates the Santiago-A Estrada highway (AG-59), between Pontevea (AC-241) and O Rollo (PO-841 link), with an investment of more than 32 million. Its tender is expected in 2025, with an execution period of three years.
The project authorized this Monday will extend the AG-59 from the link with the AC-241, which is currently under construction between A Ramallosa and Pontevea, in the municipality of Teo, until the link with the PO-841 highway, in O Rolloin the municipality of A Estrada. This investment includes the payment of the 262 properties, nine for temporary occupation to carry out the work.
The new section between Pontevea and O Rollo will have two links that will allow the four movementsboth towards the North (Santiago) and towards the South (A Estrada). One of them, the result of the reform of the existing one in A Ramallosa, and the other, newly built on the AC-241, in Pontevea.
The Department of Housing and Infrastructure Planning will convene the preparation of previous acts of expropriations in the first quarter of 2025 to put out to tender the works next year. Once the 7.5 kilometers of the extension of the current AG-59 are completed, travel times between Santiago and A Estrada will be reduced to 10 minutes, in addition to improving road safety, after a global investment of more than 67 million euros.
