His husband, actor Ben Daniels, said goodbye on Instagram with moving words: “It is with great, great sadness and a heavy heart that is broken into a million pieces that I leave this news of the death of my beloved husband and life partner.” Last December Gelder was diagnosed with biliary cancer. “I had given up work to care for him, but neither of us had any idea it would happen so quickly,” Daniels continued.
