Los Mochis, Sinaloa.- With an initial investment of 1.25 billion dollars, which will increase to 5 billion dollars, the GPO plant in TopolobampoAhome, will strengthen the value chains of the Mexican countrysidewill supply a large part of the national fertilizer market, while generating a great boost to the industrial development of Sinaloa.
The President of the Association of Farmers of the South Fort River (AARFS)César Enrique Galaviz Lugo, considered that this investment will mark a before and after in the food production process, but also in the industrialization plan promoted by the Sinaloa government, endorsed by the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The agricultural leader acknowledged that with the fertilizer plant an unprecedented boost will be achieved in the Sinaloa countryside, only comparable with the arrival of mechanization and the technification of the countryside, which allowed a qualitative leap in food production.
We are today at the threshold of a new era for the countryside, not only in Sinaloa, but throughout the country, since guaranteeing a sufficient and timely supply of fertilizers, which will necessarily reach better prices for producers, lays the foundations to achieve higher profitability in agriculture.
Likewise, he said, the high levels of uncertainty that accompany the agricultural production process will be reduced, and that season after season makes the men of the field tremble due to the high production costs, generated by the fluctuation in which prices move. of the fertilizers.
The president of the AARFS recalled that the arrival of natural gas in Sinaloa, through the gas pipeline that crosses from southern Texas to the ports of Topolobampo and Mazatlán, opened up a great opportunity to promote the emergence of the petrochemical industry in Sinaloa, and thus establish a development pole that will drive the progress of the entire state.
He highlighted the fact that Gas and Petrochemicals of the West (GPO) has been one of the first companies that decided to bet on the development of the region in the new stage marked by the arrival of natural gas.
After the Topolobampo thermoelectric plant, which uses gas for its electricity generation processes, this company of Swiss-German origin will use this natural fuel for the production of fertilizers, with the largest amount of private investment in the history of the state. .
Galaviz Lugo said he was pleased that the indigenous consultation was finally going to take place, and expressed confidence that once this obstacle had been overcome, the construction of the GPO fertilizer plant.
