The generative artificial intelligences are the hot topic of the moment, even in the field of video game development. Many think that they have not yet been employed, but the truth is that more than half of development studies world has already integrated them into the video game processing phases. In particular in Asia it seems that adoption is enormous and widespread. So anyone who thinks we are talking about the future is wrong, because in reality it is the present.
The data was shared by Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, better known on social media as ZhugeEX. His intervention was born from the news that Naughty Dog will use generative artificial intelligence in its next project, as explained by Neil Druckmann, the head of the studio.
Faced with the amazement of the people, some of whom did not react very well to the words of DruckmannAhamad then explained:
“One thing people need to understand is that at this point more than half of game developers (especially in Asia/China) are using generative AI for professional game development.
Most use it for pre-production/concept stuff, but they’ll soon expand its uses.”
The future belongs to AI
So, many studios would already be employing the various AI-based tools to create conceptual art and other resources that characterize the very early stages of development, those in which the project is planned.
In reality, it was a fairly well-known fact that AI had now been included in the pipelines of many developers. We imagine that many don’t talk about it publicly for fear of repercussions at the image levelgiven the aversion of many for the various MidJourneys and ChatGPTs.
Having said that, we will see in the future how the use of AI will change the world of video game development. Many reject them, but they will inevitably become more and more popular.
