Fujairah Municipality closed three food establishments for committing health and food violations, during the month of October, and issued 113 warnings and 75 violations to other facilities as part of inspection campaigns carried out by the Food Inspection Unit.
She stated that the decisions to close food establishments came due to non-compliance with the health requirements, standards and controls in force in the Fujairah Municipality, explaining that the most prominent violations recorded were the failure to preserve and display foodstuffs at appropriate temperatures, the failure of the facility official to implement the necessary procedures, and the lack of attention to maintenance and cleaning. Sanitary openings, failure to maintain the cleanliness of the facility (floors, ceiling and behind equipment), failure to train workers, or failure of the facility to fulfill the necessary licenses, damage to the front panels, non-application of the law of physical distancing, and neglecting to wear a mask and gloves.
The Health Department in the municipality stated that the Inspection Division organizes field campaigns on an ongoing basis to preserve the general civilized appearance of the emirate, and to ensure the extent to which food and health facilities comply with the conditions followed in the municipality, in addition to ensuring that they do not violate the laws.
The municipality is intensifying its campaigns on food establishments, to ensure their commitment to implementing health requirements, verifying the validity of foodstuffs provided to consumers, in addition to controlling any wrong practices practiced by workers in those establishments, providing advice and instructions, and directing workers to best practices.
She stressed that there will be no tolerance in violating any food and health facility that does not adhere to the procedures and controls imposed, and that the necessary measures will be taken in the event of any violation being detected.
