Decisive day for Marc Marquez’s participation in the last race of 2021 scheduled for the weekend in Valencia. Today the Honda rider will undergo medical checks to evaluate the physical conditions and decide precisely whether to show up at Ricardo Tormo, or whether to keep himself for the tests scheduled in Jerez a few days later, fundamental in view of 2022. Honda HRC stated that Marquez reported a slight concussion and that he did not participated in the Algarve Grand Prix as a precaution. In Portimao, however, several riders raised doubts about Marc Marquez’s real conditions, with his brother Alex first hinting that it could be something more serious.
The phenomenon of Honda, in fact, by his own admission after the United States Grand Prix won in Texas, emphasized that the humerus of his right arm is not yet welded and the sudden absence of Marc Marquez raises great concerns for his state of health, particularly with regard to the right arm and shoulder. As reported by the German newspaper Speedweek it is very likely that Marc Marquez will miss the appointment in Valencia and even that he will not be able to participate in the Jerez tests scheduled for 18 and 19 November. Stefan Bradl is, as always, ready to replace his former opponent at the time of Moto2 (the two competed for the title in 2011, which the German won also thanks to a knockout of Marquez in the season finale).
Possible absences which would indicate the fact that, most likely, Marc Marquez did not suffer a simple concussion when he fell in training with the enduro bike. In light of the undisputed value of Marc Marquez – capable of winning three races in this 2021 “With one arm” – and of the salary that Honda will recognize in the class of 1993 until 2024 (20 million euros), HRC absolutely does not want to jeopardize the integrity of the Catalan and for this reason no risks will be taken.
