French government spokesman Gabriel Attal said that France will pass a law converting the “health passport” needed to practice some professions and go to cinemas and cafes into a “vaccination passport” during the first half of next January.
“The wave that awaits us will be high,” Atal added, stressing that 20 percent of Covid-19 infections in France are caused by the Omicron mutant, which is spreading rapidly, especially in the Paris region.
The main goal of the “vaccination passport” is to cancel the option of a certificate of non-infection with the Corona virus by examining its negative result, which is an alternative to obtaining vaccinations.
In contrast to other European governments, Atal ruled out further restrictions, saying the country had the means to combat the next wave of infections through a campaign of vaccination and mass screening.
