With some exceptions such as public transport or medical centers, in which their use will continue to be required
The French Government today lifts most of the restrictions to fight the covid-19 pandemic. One week after the arrival of spring, the mask is no longer mandatory indoors in France (companies, schools, administrations and public services, shops, etc.), with some exceptions such as public transport or medical centers, in which that its use will continue to be required.
On the first day of the end of the obligation to wear a mask indoors, many Parisians still wore them in shops and other places for fear of contracting Covid or out of habit. Others have safely freed themselves from it, eager to finally return to a “normal” life, after two years of the pandemic.
The French also say goodbye today to the Covid vaccination certificate (complete guideline or recovery certificate), which until now was required to enter restaurants, bars, nightclubs, museums, stadiums and fairs. They will no longer have to present a QR code, on paper or digital, to be able to access these premises.
However, the health certificate (proof of vaccination, negative antigen or PCR test result or recovery certificate) will continue to be required at the entrance of hospitals, nursing homes or centers for the disabled, in order to protect the most vulnerable.
The health protocol in companies also ceases to apply. This means the end of the obligation to wear a mask and to maintain social distancing in companies. However, employers and their workers will have to continue to apply covid hygiene rules, such as washing hands, cleaning surfaces and airing the premises.
There is also a new health protocol in schools and institutes. The mask is no longer mandatory for teachers and students in schools, although they may continue to use it if they wish. In the event that there is a positive in the class, all students in that class, whether they wear a mask or not, will be considered a contact case. Students will be able to play indoor contact sports again with the new health protocol.
In France, it has been mandatory to wear a mask on public transport since May 2020 and indoors in public places since July of that year.
