Initially, Formula 1 already wanted to put six sprint races on the calendar for this year, but the teams stopped that due to cost reasons. A sprint race carries a greater risk of crashes and therefore expensive expenses, while the racing stables only have a maximum of 130 million euros to spend due to the budget cap.
Brawn thinks he can persuade the teams to make six. ,,I’m optimistic that the teams will all see the value of it. Don’t forget that due to the arrival of a sprint race, Friday will also be a spectacle with the qualifying race. That means three days of action for the fans and we can’t ignore that,” said Brawn.
