Bad and bad for the Ferrari team at the end of the 2022 season, since it is crucial that they close in a good way and above Red Bull in order to stay with the runner-up.
But to his bad luck this weekend was not pleasant at all for his drivers Charles Lecrerc and Carlos Sainz, who were left off the podium and also relegated to the drivers’ championship that continues to be dominated by Red Bull.
And it is that its Italian director, Mattia Binotto, was clear in highlighting that it was a weekend full of problems for his two single-seaters in Mexico.
“Right now we don’t have many explanations,” Mattia Binotto told Sky Sport after the race. “We have struggled since qualifying and in the race it has been hard, difficult and everything has to be analysed. This is not the result we wanted to see. But these races will help us understand the limits and understand where to focus for the next season.”
Binotto assures that the strategy failed them completely, especially with the tiressince they bet on the soft ones to make a good race and that only let them get away from the leaders.
“We were convinced that dating soft and going with the media would be the best strategy, to make the race faster. The truth is that we didn’t have the speed to be with the leaders. It’s not about the tires. With any compound we would have had many problems in spite of everything”, expressed the manager.
One of the main details that Binotto says gave him a lot of headaches on this circuit was with the power unit in this Sunday’s Formula 1 race.

“The feeling is that we didn’t interpret the race well. We struggled with the power unit all weekend, but we had problems with traction, with balance. The drivers were struggling to get the car through the corners. At the moment we do not have definitive answers and we believe that there is more than one problem.”
