Normally, companies send their employees packages with gifts themed to the company they work for, such as backpacks, thermoses, keychains, and such accessories. What is not common is for a worker who has been laid off to receive one of these packages moments after losing their job. Well, This is the case of a former employee of Xbox.
Moments after losing his job in public relations and as a communications leader earlier in the week, Brad Hilderbrand received a package from Xbox, which did not contain compensation, but a t-shirt and a backpack with the logo of the company that has taken away the way in which it generated income.
“This arrived in the mail today. I mean, I appreciate the intent, but this is also the company that just fired me, so… weird.”
The package did not include any type of message, so Hilderbrand does not know if this is a farewell gift, or simply that it must have reached him before he knew that he had been fired. Regardless of the reason, many have criticized Xbox for its lack of tact and empathy with employees who have lost their jobs this week. On related topics, more layoffs are expected within Xbox. Similarly, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II would come to PlayStation 5.
Author’s Note:
This is terrible. How is it possible that an employee who has been laid off receives something as banal as a t-shirt and a backpack? While this appears to be a shipment that arrived too late, the decision to lay off workers is not something that was made overnight.
